I would say being able to control the number of threads (cores) running is absolutely critical for a number of reasons:

    1) when doing other data processing using GPUs, the amount of cores/threads required to feed the GPUs is variable and therefore needs to be able to be adaptable within DCC Miner.

    2) on high core hosts, -25% can be a massive amount of threads not to be used.

    3) on dedicated (CPU) machines, mostly you would run 100% of cores/threads for data processing.

It is also critical for maximum participation by users. By that I mean those that wouldn't mind donating some cores/threads even while they are using the computer for other tasks.
